Aired on Thursday, June 15, 2017 – On this edition of StudioTulsa, an equally fascinating and entertaining discussion with the one-and-only Rebecca Ungerman, the influential and diversely-talented and fan-tabulous singer/songwriter/performer who's been wowing Tulsa audiences for 20+ years. She's bringing not one but two different shows to the Tulsa PAC's SummerStage series this month: "Cats of Any Color" will be staged on the 17th and 18th, and "Oy, Gestalt!" will be presented on the 24th and 25th.
State of the Arts: Passion For Singing Leads Rebecca Ungerman to Take On Bigger Roles JAMES WATTS, Tulsa World, May 8, 2015
A friend once told Rebecca Ungerman that singing — be it pop songs, jazz tunes, blues numbers, Broadway hits or her original music — was what God meant for her to do.
A lot of Tulsans would agree with that assessment. Since her days fronting the band Blue Combo to appearances at venues throughout the city, from directing the Tulsa Press Club’s annual Gridiron show to her work for such causes as H.O.P.E., Ungerman has been one of Tulsa’s most active and popular entertainers.
Tulsa Musical Production to be Featured at International Theater Festival in Israel JAMES WATTS, Tulsa World, November 5, 2012
Five months ago, Rebecca Ungerman had a vague idea for a different sort of show - a three-character cabaret musical.
Four months after that show, "The Unwitting Wife," premiered as part of the Tulsa PAC Trust's SummerStage Tulsa festival, the production will be featured at an international theater festival in Tiberias, Israel.
"And we're also working on a couple of other performances, one in Jerusalem and one in Tel Aviv, so it's going to be like a tour," Ungerman said, laughing. "Just saying that sounds a little unreal, you know? This show didn't exist six months ago, and it's touring internationally."
